Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2013 a collector was able to acquire the work Portrait of an officer, thought to be Major William Caulfield (c. 1698-1767), half-length, in a breastplate and a red coat, a park landscape beyond by George Knapton for GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,141.71). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters & British Paintings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Knapton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Lady Elizabeth Howard (1701-1739), Eldest Daughter Of Charles Howard, 3Rd Earl Of Carlisle, In Turkish Costume in July 2012 with an auction result of GBP 109,250.00 (€ 139,155.14).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli 2013 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Portrait of an officer, thought to be Major William Caulfield (c. 1698-1767), half-length, in a breastplate and a red coat, a park landscape beyond von George Knapton für GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.141,71) erwerben.
