Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marlene Dietrich and Humphrey Bogart Portfolio by George Hurrell was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in September this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 800.00 – 1,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 512.00 (€ 483.75). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Hurrell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hurrell, Portfolio I in October 2000 with an auction result of USD 4,700.00 (€ 5,538.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Marlene Dietrich and Humphrey Bogart Portfolio von George Hurrell im September diesen Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 800,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 512,00 (€ 483,75) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Hurrell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Hurrell, Portfolio I im Oktober 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.700,00 (€ 5.538,53).
