Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sunset over the Harbor by George Herbert McCord was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 4,182.50 (€ 3,602.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Herbert McCord - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Along the Lakeshore at Dusk, which sold at auction in March 2003 for USD 14,340.00 (€ 13,155.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Sunset over the Harbor von George Herbert McCord kam im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 4.182,50 (€ 3.602,81) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von George Herbert McCord mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Along the Lakeshore at Dusk beobachtet, die im März 2003 für USD 14.340,00 (€ 13.155,96) versteigert wurde.
