Auction result misses estimated price range
In March 2005 a collector was able to acquire the work Boating Along The River by George Herbert McCord for USD 1,680.00 (€ 1,295.40). This price was achieved in the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Herbert McCord achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Along the Lakeshore at Dusk in March 2003 with an auction result of USD 14,340.00 (€ 13,155.96).
