In March 2003 a collector was able to acquire the work Along the Lakeshore at Dusk by George Herbert McCord for USD 14,340.00 (€ 13,155.96). This price was achieved in the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, Along the Lakeshore at Dusk is the most expensive artwork by George Herbert McCord that we have observed at auction so far.
