Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Still life of a bird's nest and primroses by George Clare was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,736.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).

Die Arbeit Still life of a bird's nest and primroses von George Clare kam im Juni 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 2.250,00 (€ 2.736,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von George Clare mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank beobachtet, die im Mai 2002 für GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.120,36) versteigert wurde.
