In January 2011 Christies in London held the auction Christie's Interiors, which included the work Primroses, violets and a bird's nest on a mossy bank by George Clare. The result of GBP 2,000.00 (€ 2,244.55) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Clare have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im Januar 2011 führte Christies in London die Auktion Christie's Interiors durch, in der auch die Arbeit Primroses, violets and a bird's nest on a mossy bank von George Clare zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 2.000,00 (€ 2.244,55) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von George Clare auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank im Mai 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.120,36).
