Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Bonhams in London held the auction British and European Art, which included the work A pair of still lifes including a basket of fruits and an array of flowers each 59 x 46 cm (23 1/4 x 18 1/8in) (2) by George Clare. The price achieved of GBP 2,304.00 (€ 2,669.83) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by George Clare - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank, which sold at auction in May 2002 for GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion British and European Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit A pair of still lifes including a basket of fruits and an array of flowers each 59 x 46 cm (23 1/4 x 18 1/8in) (2) von George Clare zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 2.304,00 (€ 2.669,83) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von George Clare mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank beobachtet, die im Mai 2002 für GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.120,36) versteigert wurde.
