Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2007 Christies in London held the auction Victorian & Traditionalist Pictures, which included the work Hawthorn blossom, primroses and a bird's nest on a mossy bank by George Clare. The price achieved of GBP 1,750.00 (€ 2,509.37) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,500.00 – 2,000.00. Admittedly, works by George Clare have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Strawberries, apples, plums, and grapes in a wicker basket, on a mossy bank in May 2002 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,120.36).
