Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2018 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern Asian Art, which included the work Riverfront Sunset by George Chann. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 20,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 23,750.00 (€ 2,506.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by George Chann achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Peach Blossom Garden in April 2017 with an auction result of HKD 4,130,000.00 (€ 487,487.84).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2018 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Riverfront Sunset von George Chann zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 20.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 23.750,00 (€ 2.506,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von George Chann erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A Peach Blossom Garden im April 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 4.130.000,00 (€ 487.487,84).
