Auction result misses estimated price range
In November this year a collector was able to acquire the work The Six Triumphs of Petrarch by Georg Pencz for USD 1,280.00 (€ 1,173.45). This price was achieved in the auction Dance of Death at Bonhams in Skinner Marlborough, Massachusetts and was even below the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georg Pencz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sigismund Baldinger (1510-1558), three-quarter-length, seated, in a black satin doublet and a fur-lined black mantle, holding gloves, at a draped table in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,782,967.52).
