Auction result misses estimated price range
In December 2019 a collector was able to acquire the work Allegory of Music (The Harpist) by Georg Pencz for GBP 312.00 (€ 368.75). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Prints at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 500.00 – 700.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georg Pencz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of Sigismund Baldinger (1510-1558), three-quarter-length, seated, in a black satin doublet and a fur-lined black mantle, holding gloves, at a draped table in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 5,641,250.00 (€ 6,782,967.52).
