Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Black Chalkboard (Yo, Ho, Ho) by Gary Simmons. The price achieved of USD 50,400.00 (€ 48,823.02) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gary Simmons - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bows and Bones, which sold at auction in December this year for GBP 114,300.00 (€ 131,669.22).
