Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian Angophora by Garry Shead. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of AUD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of AUD 32,400.00 (€ 19,374.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Garry Shead achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Queen Of Suburbia in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 432,000.00 (€ 258,325.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2007 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian Angophora von Garry Shead zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von AUD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von AUD 32.400,00 (€ 19.374,44) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Garry Shead erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Queen Of Suburbia im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 432.000,00 (€ 258.325,93).
