Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection, which included the work Australian The Writer (Frieda) by Garry Shead. The price achieved of AUD 108,000.00 (€ 66,407.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 90,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Garry Shead - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Queen Of Suburbia, which sold at auction in August 2007 for AUD 432,000.00 (€ 258,325.93).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2007 führte Sothebys in Sydney die Auktion Important Australian Art Including Works from the Qantas Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Writer (Frieda) von Garry Shead zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 108.000,00 (€ 66.407,20) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 90.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Garry Shead mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Queen Of Suburbia beobachtet, die im August 2007 für AUD 432.000,00 (€ 258.325,93) versteigert wurde.
