In April 2008 Sothebys in Sydney held the auction Important Paintings, which included the work Australian The Town, Thirroul by Garry Shead. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 28,800.00 (€ 17,424.67), 60% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Garry Shead achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Australian Queen Of Suburbia in August 2007 with an auction result of AUD 432,000.00 (€ 258,325.93).

Im April 2008 führte Sothebys in Sydney die Auktion Important Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Australian The Town, Thirroul von Garry Shead zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 28.800,00 (€ 17.424,67) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Garry Shead erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Australian Queen Of Suburbia im August 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von AUD 432.000,00 (€ 258.325,93).
