Each scroll measures 172 x 32 cm. (67 <sup>3</sup>⁄<sub>4</sub> x 12 <sup>5</sup>⁄<sub>8</sub> in.)
Inscribed and signed, with two seals of the artist
Dated autumn, xinyou year (1741)
Dedicated to Zhusheng
Titleslips inscribed and signed by Sun Zhongying (1883-1953)
NOTE: Sun Zhongying (1883-1953) named Pu, was born in Zhongshan, Guangdong. He was a poet of the South Society, and had a large collection of Chinese paintings and calligraphy. He served in many important positions in Guangdong provincial government.

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Eight-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script by Gao Fenghan was sold in the Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center auction at Christies in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 35,000.00 (€ 3,964.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gao Fenghan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Album Of Peonies in November 2016 with an auction result of HKD 6,015,000.00 (€ 732,967.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Eight-character Calligraphic Couplet in Running Script von Gao Fenghan wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Exquisite Eye: Chinese Paintings Online including the Collection of Sun Ah Book Center bei Christies versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von HKD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von HKD 35.000,00 (€ 3.964,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gao Fenghan erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Album Of Peonies im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 6.015.000,00 (€ 732.967,95).
