Upper estimate price exceeded by 100 %.
This artwork by Fred Sandback achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in March this year. In the Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD auction, the work without title sold for USD 2,394.00 (€ 2,201.99) - well above the upper estimate of USD 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Sandback achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Broadway Boogie Woogie (Sculptural Study, Twenty-two part Vertical Construction) in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 545,000.00 (€ 495,724.94).
