Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Fred Sandback could be acquired at Christies in New York in March this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Contemporary Edition: New York: Featuring the Collection of Kenwal Steel in Support of GLAAD auction, the work Four Variations of Two Diagonal Lines changed hands for USD 1,890.00 (€ 1,738.41) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fred Sandback achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Broadway Boogie Woogie (Sculptural Study, Twenty-two part Vertical Construction) in May 2015 with an auction result of USD 545,000.00 (€ 495,724.94).
