Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2008 Christies in New York held the auction Important American Paintings, Drawings And Sculpture, which included the work Seascape by Frank Henry Shapleigh. The price achieved of USD 29,800.00 (€ 19,151.67) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Frank Henry Shapleigh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Old Sanchez House, St. Augustine, Florida, which sold at auction in March 2008 for USD 103,000.00 (€ 65,169.25).
