Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Edinburgh Castle From The South by Francis Towne was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction at Christies in London in December 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,262.45) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).

Die Arbeit Edinburgh Castle From The South von Francis Towne wurde im Dezember 2013 in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 5.262,45) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
