Auction result misses estimated price range
In July 2016 a collector was able to acquire the work View of the mountains between Wesen and Glaris, Switzerland by Francis Towne for GBP 37,500.00 (€ 44,558.11). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings at Christies in London and was even below the estimate range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Francis Towne have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Juli 2016 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit View of the mountains between Wesen and Glaris, Switzerland von Francis Towne für GBP 37.500,00 (€ 44.558,11) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in London erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Towne auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 289.250,00 (€ 347.790,53).
