Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Frascati, Near Rome by Francis Towne was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,500.00 (€ 3,924.27) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Frascati, Near Rome von Francis Towne kam im Juli 2018 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.500,00 (€ 3.924,27) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Towne erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa im Juli 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 289.250,00 (€ 347.790,53).
