Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work A View Of A Hermitage At Rocca Di Papa, Near Lake Albano, Italy by Francis Towne. The price achieved of GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,708.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Towne achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lake Of Albano, Morning Sun Rising Over Rocca Del Papa in July 2010 with an auction result of GBP 289,250.00 (€ 347,790.53).

Im Juli 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A View Of A Hermitage At Rocca Di Papa, Near Lake Albano, Italy von Francis Towne zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.875,00 (€ 7.708,39) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Towne erzielen.
