Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2009 a collector was able to acquire the work A Royal Navy 14-gun brig accepting the surrender of a Dutch East Indiaman by Francis Holman for USD 30,000.00 (€ 23,430.18). This price was achieved in the auction Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Francis Holman have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 137,500.00 (€ 153,187.19).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2009 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit A Royal Navy 14-gun brig accepting the surrender of a Dutch East Indiaman von Francis Holman für USD 30.000,00 (€ 23.430,18) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Important Old Master Paintings and Sculpture bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Francis Holman auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A view of Blackwell Yard from the Thames im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 137.500,00 (€ 153.187,19).
