Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study of the Head of the Christ Child by Federico Barocci was sold in the Important Old Master Pictures Day Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 33,600.00 (€ 49,866.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Federico Barocci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Head of Saint John the Evangelist, an oil study for The Entombment of Christ in the church of Santa Croce, Senigallia in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,376,522.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study of the Head of the Christ Child von Federico Barocci wurde im Dezember 2006 in der Auktion Important Old Master Pictures Day Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 33.600,00 (€ 49.866,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Federico Barocci erzielen.
