Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study For An Equestrian Portrait Of Francesco Maria II Della Rovere (Recto); Study For The Right Hand Of The Duke, Holding A Baton (Verso) by Federico Barocci was sold in the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors auction at Christies in New York in January 2014. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 56,250.00 (€ 41,666.67) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Federico Barocci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Head of Saint John the Evangelist, an oil study for The Entombment of Christ in the church of Santa Croce, Senigallia in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,376,522.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Study For An Equestrian Portrait Of Francesco Maria II Della Rovere (Recto); Study For The Right Hand Of The Duke, Holding A Baton (Verso) von Federico Barocci wurde im Januar 2014 in der Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolors bei Christies in New York versteigert. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Head of Saint John the Evangelist, an oil study for The Entombment of Christ in the church of Santa Croce, Senigallia im Januar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.762.500,00 (€ 1.376.522,96).
