Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of A Gentleman, Bust Length, Wearing A Black Jerkin And White Ruff by Federico Barocci was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in January 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 106,250.00 (€ 98,089.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Federico Barocci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Head of Saint John the Evangelist, an oil study for The Entombment of Christ in the church of Santa Croce, Senigallia in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,376,522.96).

Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 106.250,00 (€ 98.089,00) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
