The »bidding war« ended at USD 132,000.00 (€ 101,554.09), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Federico Barocci achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Head of Saint John the Evangelist, an oil study for The Entombment of Christ in the church of Santa Croce, Senigallia in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 1,762,500.00 (€ 1,376,522.96).

Die Arbeit Recto: The Rest On The Flight Into Egypt Verso: Sketch Of A Male Nude von Federico Barocci wurde im Januar 2007 in der Auktion Old Master Drawings bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 132.000,00 (€ 101.554,09) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Federico Barocci erzielen.
