Description
FANG JIZHONG (1923-1987) Mountain Hua Scroll, mounted and framed, ink and colour on paper 78 x 76.5 cm. (30 3 ⁄ 4 x 30 1 ⁄ 8 in.) Entitled, inscribed and signed, with one seal of the artist Dated May, 1986 NOTE: Fang Jizhong, also known as Xue Nong, was a native of Mian County, Shanxi Province. In 1946, he became a student of Zhao Wangyun and engaged in artistic creation for an extended period. Proficient in landscape and flower-and-bird painting, his works drew inspiration from the scenic beauty of the northwest's rural villages and pastoral areas. With a focus on capturing the innate spirit of nature, he stood as one of the representative artists of the Chang'an School of Painting.
Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work Mountain Hua by Fang Jizhong was worth HKD 441,000.00 (€ 51,875.17) to a buyer in August this year. This price was achieved in the auction Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00 many times over. Admittedly, works by Fang Jizhong have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Goats In The Autumn Woods in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 2,560,000.00 (€ 263,559.46).
Kunstwerk zum Siebenfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Die Arbeit Mountain Hua von Fang Jizhong war einem Käufer im August diesen Jahres HKD 441.000,00 (€ 51.875,17) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Summer Reverie: Chinese Paintings Online bei Christies in New York erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 60.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Fang Jizhong auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Goats In The Autumn Woods im Oktober 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 2.560.000,00 (€ 263.559,46).
