His gift to the National Trust of Australia (Victoria), Melbourne in 1964.

In August 2007 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art Including Selected International Works, which included the work Australian The Great Lake, Tasmania by Eugene von Guerard. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 1,860,000.00 (€ 1,112,236.64), 16% above the upper estimate. With this result, Australian The Great Lake, Tasmania is even the most expensive work of art by Eugene von Guerard that we have observed at auctions so far.
