The price achieved of GBP 470.00 (€ 736.00) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest William Aldworth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The first draw; The lost scent; A southerly wind and a cloudy sky; and Setting off, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 998.75 (€ 1,563.99).
