Auction result well in line with expectations
The work At the start of the day; Setting off; At the covert; Lost their way; Cornered; On the scent; Catching their breath; and Returning home by Ernest William Aldworth was sold in the Sporting Art and Dogs auction at Christies in London in November 2002. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 411.25 (€ 644.00) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ernest William Aldworth - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The first draw; The lost scent; A southerly wind and a cloudy sky; and Setting off, which sold at auction in November 2002 for GBP 998.75 (€ 1,563.99).
