In the Christie's Interiors auction, the work Preliminary cover design for The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame, 1959 edition. sold for GBP 2,250.00 (€ 2,765.32) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Shepard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Here Is Edward Bear, Coming Downstairs Now, Bump, Bump, Bump, On The Back Of His Head, Behind Christopher Robin." in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 139,250.00 (€ 171,733.92).
