In March 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer, which included the work ‘The Stranger In The Studio’ by Ernest Shepard. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,188.00 (€ 1,352.60), 32% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Shepard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Here Is Edward Bear, Coming Downstairs Now, Bump, Bump, Bump, On The Back Of His Head, Behind Christopher Robin." in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 139,250.00 (€ 171,733.92).

Im März 2018 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Political Cartoon Collection of Jeffrey Archer durch, in der auch die Arbeit ‘The Stranger In The Studio’ von Ernest Shepard zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.188,00 (€ 1.352,60) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernest Shepard erzielen.
