This artwork by Ernest Shepard achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in December this year. In the FootballThe Beautiful Game auction, the work Asziociatung – Phootballen, Unreported casualty to the football of the 85th Infantry Regiment of the enemy sold for GBP 2,176.00 (€ 2,506.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ernest Shepard achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work "Here Is Edward Bear, Coming Downstairs Now, Bump, Bump, Bump, On The Back Of His Head, Behind Christopher Robin." in December 2012 with an auction result of GBP 139,250.00 (€ 171,733.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen

In der Auktion FootballThe Beautiful Game wurde die Arbeit Asziociatung – Phootballen, Unreported casualty to the football of the 85th Infantry Regiment of the enemy für GBP 2.176,00 (€ 2.506,67) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ernest Shepard erzielen.
