This artwork by Ernest Fiene achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in June 2016. In the American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work The End Of The L Train sold for USD 23,750.00 (€ 21,528.28) - well above the upper estimate of USD 8,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Ernest Fiene; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Winter Day, Pittsburgh sold at auction in November 2018 with the realized price of USD 37,500.00 (€ 33,118.43).
