Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2013 Phillips in New York held the auction Important Photographs from the Collection of Dr. Anthony Terrana, which included the work Nancy, Twine and Blanket Construction, Danville, Virginia by Emmet Gowin. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,750.00 (€ 2,088.40) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emmet Gowin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concerning America and Alfred Stieglitz, and Myself. Richmond, Virginia: by the photographer, 1965. in May 2010 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 46,455.48).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2013 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Important Photographs from the Collection of Dr. Anthony Terrana durch, in der auch die Arbeit Nancy, Twine and Blanket Construction, Danville, Virginia von Emmet Gowin zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.750,00 (€ 2.088,40) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Emmet Gowin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Concerning America and Alfred Stieglitz, and Myself.
