Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Edith by Emmet Gowin was sold in the The Eye That Shapes: Further Selections from the Peter C. Bunnell Collection auction at Phillips in an online auction in February this year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 3,500.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 3,780.00 (€ 3,565.37). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Emmet Gowin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concerning America and Alfred Stieglitz, and Myself. Richmond, Virginia: by the photographer, 1965. in May 2010 with an auction result of GBP 39,650.00 (€ 46,455.48).
