In June 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Kamaitachi #8, 1965 by Eikoh Hosoe. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,016.92), 41% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Eikoh Hosoe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Yayoi Kusama (Imaged Taken In 1964, Printed In 2016) in April this year with an auction result of HKD 81,600.00 (€ 83,329.57).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 41 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Kamaitachi #8, 1965 von Eikoh Hosoe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.016,92) und damit 41% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eikoh Hosoe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Yayoi Kusama (Imaged Taken In 1964, Printed In 2016) im April diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 81.600,00 (€ 83.329,57).
