Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Edward Robert Hughes achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in July 2017. In the Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction, the work The Weary Moon sold for GBP 143,750.00 (€ 160,402.93) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Robert Hughes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work British Dream Idyll (A Valkyrie), which sold at auction in October 2009 for USD 866,500.00 (€ 587,258.56).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Edward Robert Hughes erzielte im Juli 2017 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art wurde die Arbeit The Weary Moon für GBP 143.750,00 (€ 160.402,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 50.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Robert Hughes mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit British Dream Idyll (A Valkyrie) beobachtet, die im Oktober 2009 für USD 866.500,00 (€ 587.258,56) versteigert wurde.
