Auction result well in line with expectations
In December last year Christies in London held the auction British and European Art: Part 1, which included the work Day, and Night by Edward Robert Hughes. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 151,200.00 (€ 170,690.07) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Robert Hughes - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work British Dream Idyll (A Valkyrie), which sold at auction in October 2009 for USD 866,500.00 (€ 587,258.56).
