Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Trees at Twilight by Edward Robert Hughes was sold in the The Nicolette Wernick Collection British Watercolours and Paintings (1800-1950) auction at Christies in London in June 2010. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,600.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Robert Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Dream Idyll (A Valkyrie) in October 2009 with an auction result of USD 866,500.00 (€ 587,258.56).
