Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Head study of a young girl, looking downwards by Edward Robert Hughes was worth GBP 11,875.00 (€ 13,250.68) to a buyer in July 2017. This price was achieved in the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite and British Impressionist Art at Christies in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Robert Hughes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work British Dream Idyll (A Valkyrie) in October 2009 with an auction result of USD 866,500.00 (€ 587,258.56).
