EDMUND DE WAAL (B. 1964) in touch, I stamped with artist's signature, inscribed and dated 'Edmund de Waal London 2013' (on a label affixed to the underside of each vessel) five porcelain vessels on artist's painted wood plinth overall: 4 1 ⁄ 8 x 4 3 ⁄ 4 x 4 3 ⁄ 4 in. (10.5 x 12 x 12cm.) Executed in 2013
Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In July this year Christies in Paris held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work in touch, I by Edmund de Waal. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 5,670.00 (€ 6,615.17). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund de Waal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A short history of the shadow in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 137,741.48).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit in touch, I von Edmund de Waal zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 5.670,00 (€ 6.615,17) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund de Waal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit A short history of the shadow im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 118.750,00 (€ 137.741,48).
