Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction This is Tomorrow: Works from the David Ross Collection, which included the work Ryōan-ji (for John Cage), VII by Edmund de Waal. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 20,160.00 (€ 23,456.44) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Edmund de Waal have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A short history of the shadow in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 118,750.00 (€ 137,741.48).
