Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2006 Christies in New York held the auction The House Sale, which included the work Near Lake George, New York by Edmund Darch Lewis. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,500.00 – 2,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,560.00 (€ 1,219.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Darch Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Newport Harbor, Twilight in September 2009 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion The House Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Near Lake George, New York von Edmund Darch Lewis zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.500,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.560,00 (€ 1.219,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Darch Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Newport Harbor, Twilight im September 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35).
