Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2008 a collector was able to acquire the work Santiago De Cuba by Edmund Darch Lewis for USD 21,250.00 (€ 16,740.19). This price was achieved in the auction Latin American Art at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00 set by the auction house. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edmund Darch Lewis - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Newport Harbor, Twilight, which sold at auction in September 2009 for USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im November 2008 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Santiago De Cuba von Edmund Darch Lewis für USD 21.250,00 (€ 16.740,19) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Latin American Art bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Edmund Darch Lewis mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Newport Harbor, Twilight beobachtet, die im September 2009 für USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35) versteigert wurde.
