In August 2017 Christies in New York held the auction Living with Art, which included the work Chester Valley Creek, Washington's Headquarters in 1776 by Edmund Darch Lewis. The auction ended at the price of USD 3,500.00 (€ 2,946.62), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edmund Darch Lewis achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Newport Harbor, Twilight in September 2009 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im August 2017 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Living with Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Chester Valley Creek, Washington's Headquarters in 1776 von Edmund Darch Lewis zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 3.500,00 (€ 2.946,62) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edmund Darch Lewis erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Newport Harbor, Twilight im September 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35).
