A top price for Edmund Darch Lewis - as previously expected
In September 2009 Christies in New York held the auction American Paintings, which included the work Newport Harbor, Twilight by Edmund Darch Lewis. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Newport Harbor, Twilight is the most expensive artwork by Edmund Darch Lewis that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Im September 2009 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Newport Harbor, Twilight von Edmund Darch Lewis zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Newport Harbor, Twilight das teuerste Kunstwerk von Edmund Darch Lewis, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
